Today working with my mentor was very smooth she explained how to use the computer system to me and had me draw up some vaccinations. she definatley has been a role model for she works so hard for what she has achieved and inspires me and treats me like family I couldnt ask for a better mentor. Shes makes me feel like I am special and although she is very harsh and opinionated she only is like that to me because shes see potential in me and tht is such a gratifying feeling. Ihave learned so much and have had such a great experience with such an amazing person. some struggles i have been facing are time management because not only does my senior year ride on this project this is my job and this is the beginning to my future I have been blessed to have such an amazing oppurtuinty to have been offered this job, but I must take one step at a time and finish a chapter before i start another one and coming to terms with this has been the biggest obstacle for me in this journey of this project. this is very out of the random but im feel like im the best X-Ray tech Spruce Avenue Pet Hospital has it is hard to get a dog to lay on its back and stay still to take a X-Ray when its not sedate and cats are even harder you have to aline the body to this X in the middle od the mackine and any way i just have some photos of the X-Rays I took i was proud of myself of getting such beautiful pictures!

May 5th hours
On May 5th i walked into spruce pet hospital and before i get a chance to say hello to everyone working my Doctor, Dr.little had me set up a radio graph for a cat which she believed had something in its bladder preventing it from urinating most likely bladder stones. to set up a radio graph you must enter into the database general information including pet name owners last name client ID ect.. once that is saved to the data base you must set the x-ray machine to the parameters to the size of the cat, or dog and get the led suit on and thyroid gard. stretch the animal out on the table depending where we are taking the x-rays and press the peddle down until you hear beeping then the x-ray is done. yesterday i had finished fours hours of working with my mentor.

December 10th 2013: Busy Bee!
After school today I walked over to the pet hospital as I walk in my doctor says "thank god your here" I soon realize that its there are many dogs in the cages and even more patiences coming in the doors. My first task of the day was to give a poddle a bath with a special shampoo to hydrate the skin. The dog's name was bella and after her bath she seemed much happier and smelled great!
Another dog I cared for today was a little girl who was nervous because the docctor had to draw blood and although she was sweet she didnt want to stay still, but after all the fighing i was finaly were able to calm her by petting her head to distract her while the vet tech held her down and the doctor drew blood.

Just the begining
I have decided for my Capstone project I'm going take on an intrenship at a family pet hospital. My mentors name is Maggie little she is the head or should i say only vetriarian at Spruce Pet Hospital so she is always on her feet doing many tasks at once. My first day working at the hospital was November 24th, it was a new enivronment and had no idea what i was doing or where i'd fit in, i went in with the doctor for a few check ups she just asked genral questions about the animals health and why'd they had come in..only being there one day i had realized what demandind job this is, everything must run like a well oiled machine or their will be difficulties.. and at this pet hospital difficulties was its middle name only because when i had went in they were under new management and the previous owners werent the cleanest..anyway back to the learning part.. working in this envirnoment isnt what i had expected but i think learning to work in a high pace environment teaches me to stay clam when their are a millions things going on at once. Dr.Little taught me to greet animals which i had already knew owning over six dogs in my life. I feel like i have so much to say i have been going their everyday after school since the first day the experience is so much fun.. i have seen the most ineresting surgerys only being there for a week i saw a tumor being removed from a male pitbulls genitals and a tooth surgery.. the doctor was surprised to see that such a "gross" surgery hadn't affected me, i think its all in healing. I have remianed composed throught the many busy days i have had to learn to check people in, make appointments, give animals baths, answer phones, ect..I have learned so much in a short ammount of time. Dr. Little so impressed with my intaitive going everyday over thanksgiving break except Thanksgiving day and everyday after school since then she had offered me a job over the Holiday break, being their makes me feel like i'm helping with something great.

Capstone Project Brainstorm (topics)
Since I will be spending a great amount of my senior year focusing
on my capstone project, I want to pick a project topic that will benefit a
possible future career, or something I might major in during college, because I
want to know if I even like these subjects I may pursue in the future. Three topics
I'm interested in for my capstone project involving a future career are cosmetology,
photography, and a veterinarian. Three topics that I might major in during
college are teaching, owning a business, and culinary arts.
