December 10th 2013: Busy Bee!

After school today I walked over to the pet hospital as I walk in my doctor says "thank god your here"  I soon realize that its there are many dogs in the cages and even more patiences coming in the doors. My first task of the day was to give a poddle a bath with a special shampoo to hydrate the skin. The dog's name was bella and after her bath she seemed much happier and smelled great!

Another dog I cared for today was a little girl who was nervous because the docctor had to draw blood and although she was sweet  she didnt want to stay still, but after all the fighing i was finaly were able to calm her by petting her head to distract her while the vet tech held her down and the doctor drew blood.

Just the begining

I have decided for my Capstone project I'm going take on an intrenship at a family pet hospital. My mentors name is Maggie little she is the head or should i say only vetriarian at Spruce Pet Hospital so she is always on her feet doing many tasks at once. My first day working at the hospital was November 24th, it was a new enivronment and had no idea what i was doing or where i'd fit in, i went in with the doctor for a few check ups she just asked genral questions about the animals health and why'd they had come in..only being there one day i had realized what demandind job this is, everything must run like a well oiled machine or their will be difficulties.. and at this pet hospital difficulties was its middle name only because when i had went in they were under new management and the previous owners werent the cleanest..anyway back to the learning part.. working in this envirnoment isnt what i had expected but i think learning to work in a high pace environment teaches me to stay clam when their are a millions things going on at once. Dr.Little taught me to greet animals which i had already knew owning over six dogs in my life. I feel like i have so much to say i have been going their everyday after school since the first day the experience is so much fun.. i have seen the most ineresting surgerys only being there for a week i saw a tumor being removed from a male pitbulls genitals and a tooth surgery.. the doctor was surprised to see that such a "gross" surgery hadn't affected me, i think its all in healing. I have remianed composed throught the many busy days i have had to learn to check people in, make appointments, give animals baths, answer phones, ect..I have learned so much in a short ammount of time. Dr. Little so impressed with my intaitive going everyday over thanksgiving break except Thanksgiving day and everyday after school since then she had offered me a job over the Holiday break, being their makes me feel like i'm helping with something great.
